we had not planned to go so far, so we had to hike about a kilometer up to the lake at the base of the glacier at a run so as not to get caught in the dark. We were rewarded with a view that haunts me still: a glass lake mirroring the mottled face of this vast Thing that vanished into its own whiteness and the sky. Whew. The scenery begins to remind me more and more of the High Mojave in winter (actually not as bitterly cold as that!). There is this Vastness and Silence. And it was clear every night, so there was one night where the Aurora Borealis composed a massive musikal abstrakt composition spanning the entire sky with bands and streamers of green that changed every second and seemed to be the aura of all the 5 billion souls on this earth.

try it... you might
find something relevant, you might not. but then again, what
is relevancy? eyes wide open, all is relevant. eyes closed
tight, not much is gained...
